The Quimper Events Collective (QEC) is deeply saddened by the announcement of Fort Worden Hospitality’s closure, effective January 16, 2025. This is a significant loss for our community and for the many individuals and organizations who have relied on their services. Fort Worden has not only been a cherished part of our region but also an integral part of QEC’s story—our very first gathering took place in the Commons, grounding our foundation in this iconic space.
Fort Worden Hospitality, as a local nonprofit, has exemplified the values we share at QEC, particularly the importance of keeping local dollars local and prioritizing community-first solutions. Their dedication to managing the campus’s food and beverage, venues, and non-camping accommodations with care and intention has left a lasting impact.
Immediate Support for Those Affected
In response to this closure, QEC has been working tirelessly to provide resources to affected guests, couples, and event professionals. These include:
- A Comprehensive Accommodation Guide with alternative lodging options in Jefferson County and nearby areas.
- A Comprehensive Venue Guide to help those seeking new locations for their events.
These resources, which include but are not limited to our members, will be shared with Fort Worden Hospitality management and made available on a dedicated page on the QEC website. We are committed to ensuring that planned events can proceed with as little disruption as possible.
We also anticipate an increase in inquiries from panicked couples and families reconfiguring their plans. To our QEC community: we encourage you to offer solutions-oriented, forward-facing support while maintaining professionalism and empathy during these conversations.
Clarifications for the Community
We understand this closure has raised many questions. Here are a few important points:
- Fort Worden State Park is not closing. The park, including camping facilities, remains open for visitors to enjoy.
- Partners such as Centrum and Northwind remain operational. Their contracts on campus are separate and only affected as it relates to Hospitality services.
- Regarding our March 1st Wedding Show: Fort Worden Hospitality and Washington State Parks are working collaboratively to transfer the rental of the USO so the wedding show can proceed as planned.
Honoring a Legacy and Moving Forward
We extend our deepest gratitude to Natalie Maitland and the Fort Worden Hospitality team for their vision and contributions to this community. Natalie’s leadership has been a driving force, and her support for QEC from the very beginning has been instrumental in our growth. Her dedication reflects the collaborative spirit we all strive to uphold.
We remain committed to supporting our community through this transition and ensuring that the Quimper Peninsula continues to thrive as a welcoming and vibrant destination. For resources or to contribute to our efforts, please visit www.quimpereventscollective.com/solutions.
Together, we will navigate this challenging time and honor the legacy of Fort Worden Hospitality by continuing to uphold the values they embodied.

The Quimper Events Collective Board of Directors
